SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA – – Today, Doctor Yona Barash announced a major endorsement in his campaign for the 7th Congressional District. Congressman Tom McClintock officially endorsed Yona Barash in the election to unseat Democrat Ami Bera. As Representative for the neighboring 4th Congressional District McClintock’s support carries major weight in the district. McClintock’s support is one of the most sought after endorsement in the region.
“Dr. Yona Barash believes in individual liberty and limited government and has a compelling personal story to tell, having lived in a refugee camp in Israel after his family escaped the communist dictatorship in Romania,” said McClintock. “He has one of the most unique stories I’ve ever heard from a candidate for Congress and he is exactly the type of candidate the Republican Party needs in this election.”
Born in Romania in 1945 while it was still occupied by Nazi Germany, Barash’s family fled oppression and eventually found safety in a refugee camp in Israel in 1960. He then joined the Israeli Defense Force after high school and from there graduated from the Hebrew University Medical School. Before immigrating to the United States in 1975 Barash continued to serve in the IDF Advanced Paratrooper Unit as a physician.
Since moving to the Sacramento area in 1989 Dr. Barash has performed life-saving operations as a surgical oncologist and diagnosed more than 20,000 patients.
Dr. Yona Barash one of the area’s top surgeons is running against Ami Bera for the 7th Congressional District in Sacramento County. Since entering the election Barash has earned the endorsement of former Sacramento Sheriff John McGinness among others. The 7th District is entirely nested in Sacramento County and includes the cities of Folsom, Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova and Fair Oaks.
